Methods for Compensating Thermal Mode Distortions in High Average Power Chirped Pulse Amplifiers

چکیده
Further development of a solid state, high average power, chirped pulse amplifier is presented. The design of a container filled with an optical gel, OCF-446, with a negative dT dn to compensate for thermal lensing effects in the amplifier is discussed along with designs of a thermoelectric cooling system for the solid state Ti:sapphire crystal in the amplifier. The container is a variable width cell which has a step size of .026 mm / 15 and prevents the OCF-446 from becoming dirty. Experimentation on this cell verifies that OCF-446 acts as a negative thermal lens when it comes in contact with a laser beam. Testing also concludes that a larger path length within the variable width cell leads to an increase in the beam waist. Thus the tunability of the cell’s effect on negative thermal lensing is shown to be successful since previous designs were static in path length. 1 Email: [email protected] 2 Email: [email protected]

Effects of Non-Ideal Pre-Distorter High Power Amplifiers in WCDMA Using Multi-User Detectors
Wide band code division multiple access (WCDMA) signals, transmitted by the base station high power amplifiers (HPAs), show high peak to average power ratios (PAPR), which results in nonlinear distortions. In this paper, using computer simulations effect of using a predistorted HPA on the symbol error rate (SER) of multi-user detectors in terms of output back-off (OBO) in the transmit power...

194 LLE Review, Volume 99 Introduction Optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification1,2 (OPCPA) is well suited for the front end of modern petawatt glass laser chains.3 The broadband gain available with OPCPA at a wavelength of 1053 nm offsets the gain narrowing that occurs in large Nd-doped glass amplifiers.4 It can be scaled to large energies,5 in contrast to the practical limits imposed by ...
متن کاملThermal properties of borate crystals for high power optical parametric chirped-pulse amplification.
The potential of borate crystals, BBO, LBO and BiBO, for high average power scaling of optical parametric chirped-pulse amplifiers is investigated. Up-to-date measurements of the absorption coefficients at 515 nm and the thermal conductivities are presented. The measured absorption coefficients are a factor of 10-100 lower than reported by the literature for BBO and LBO. For BBO, a large variat...
متن کاملDesign considerations for a high power, ultrabroadband optical parametric chirped-pulse amplifier.
A conceptual design of a high power, ultrabroadband optical parametric chirped-pulse amplifier (OPCPA) was carried out comparing nonlinear crystals (LBO and BBO) for 810 nm centered, sub-7.0 fs pulses with energies above 1 mJ. These amplifiers are only possible with a parallel development of kilowatt-level OPCPA-pump amplifiers. It is therefore important to know good strategies to use the avail...

We report a stable highly-integrated high power picosecond thulium-doped all-fiber MOPA system without using conventional chirped pulse amplification technique. The master oscillator was passively mode-locked by a SESAM to generate average power of 15 mW at a fundamental repetition rate of 103 MHz in a short linear cavity, and a uniform narrow bandwidth FBG is employed to stabilize the passivel...
